The deadline for submissions to the Parliamentary Inquiry into the 2026 summer bushfires has been extended to April 19, 2026.
The Nationals’ Member for Northern Victoria Gaelle Broad said it was important locals used this opportunity to share their first-hand experiences of the fires.
“As a member of the Environment and Planning Committee undertaking this inquiry, I encourage local residents impacted by the fires, volunteers and organisations to share your insights and make a submission,” Ms Broad said.
“It is very important to hear from the people on the ground with their first-hand experiences of these traumatic fires.
“This information will be used to help create recommendations that improve how we cope with 2260323 Media Release -natural disasters in the future.”
The inquiry will consider preparation and planning by Government, emergency services agencies, causes and circumstances of the bushfires, funding equipment and appliances for the CFA, the emergency responses, resilience of critical services and infrastructure, the impact on community business and agriculture, and impact on the environment.
The Committee is due to report back to Parliament in June 2026.
Visit the Parliamentary Committee website for further information or to make a submission.
