A Parliamentary inquiry into local government funding and services will hold hearings in Bendigo today.
The committee will hear from councils from central and northern Victoria.
The inquiry will hear from the City of Greater Bendigo; and the shires of Buloke, Campaspe, Strathbogie, Gannawarra, Mitchell, Macedon Ranges, Hepburn and Indigo as well as the Wallaloo and Gre Gre District Alliance group.
“The hearing is a great opportunity for councils to raise issues of concern,” Ms Broad said.
The committee is charged with investigating local government funding and service delivery in Victoria, including:
- Cost shifting from state and federal governments to local council;
- Ability of local governments to meet core service delivery objectives;
- Local government’s revenue structure; and
- Whether there are alternative models of funding to consider.
The hearings will be held at the All Seasons Resort in Bendigo from 11am.
