Today’s reports of ambulances waiting two to three hours for an available bed at Bendigo Health are
appalling.
The Nationals Member for Northern Victoria Gaelle Broad says the community deserves better.
This comes on top of a recent incident where a Bendigo woman was told to take a taxi to hospital
because no ambulance was available.
“This shows the terrible state our health system is in. The Allan Labor Government is skimping on
vital health care as it tries to patch up its massive debt,” Ms Broad said.
“Every ambulance that is ramped at the hospital is not out responding to a potentially life-threatening
situation in the community.
“I understand both paramedics and hospital staff are incredibly frustrated by this situation.
“The fact that this is happening in the Premier’s own hometown is very disappointing.
“Ambulance delays, higher costs and longer wait times for essential care are the real-world
consequences of Labor’s mismanagement of our health care system.
“The recent Budget Update in December 2023 confirmed that the Allan Government has cut $930
million from health.
“Labor can’t manage money and Victorians are paying the price.”
