The Nationals’ Member for Northern Victoria Gaelle Broad said DonateLife Week this week was a timely reminder to register for organ and tissue donation.
“While most Australians support donation, only about one third are registered,” Ms Broad said.
“One donor can save up to seven lives, which is an incredible gift.”
To register to become an organ and tissue donor takes only a few minutes online via the DonateLife website or via Medicare in your myGov account.
“When you register be sure to tell your family, as families are always asked about donation in hospital and are more likely to support your preference to donate if you have already discussed it,” Ms Broad said.
“One person has the potential to save and improve the lives of many people through organ and tissue donation.
“This DonateLife Week, I encourage everyone across our community to take a moment to consider registering and to have that conversation with the people closest to you. It is a small act that reflects the kindness and generosity that regional communities are so well known for.
