The Victorian Liberals and Nationals have released a discussion paper on tax reform and invite people and organisations to have their say on how taxes affect them.
Nationals Member for Northern Victoria Gaelle Broad, said the discussion paper on tax reform, ‘Making Victoria’s Tax System Work’ has sparked a strong response, with more than 100 submissions already received.
People are telling us the tax system punishes rather than encourages, is unfair and adds unnecessary costs to businesses, families, households and community groups.
Victoria’s economy is weaker as a result of nearly 50 new or increased taxes introduced by this Government. Investment is being stifled, and jobs are going elsewhere.
At a time when families and businesses are struggling with the rising cost of living, Labor continues to increase taxes to cover the cost of their financial mistakes.
Our tax system needs reform to ease the burden on singles, families and businesses and encourage private sector growth.
Victorians pay the highest taxes in Australia, and I encourage people to share their stories and ideas to help reform Victoria’s tax system.
All submissions will contribute to the Liberals and Nationals economic reform agenda to be released in the lead up to the 2026 Victorian State Election.
The discussion paper along with additional information, including fact sheets, is available at BetterTaxSystem.com.au

Submissions close at 5pm on Tuesday, 31 October 2023.
