Dear Editor
The Allan Labor Government has enabled corruption and union misconduct to run rampant on ‘Big Build’ construction sites funded by Victorian taxpayers.
The CFMEU is one of the largest donors to the Victorian Labor Party, and directly influences Labor party policy, pre-selections and internal party appointments.
As Minister, Jacinta Allan turned a blind eye to allegations of misconduct on government construction sites and took more than a year to respond to written allegations of violent threats and intimidation by the CFMEU.
Under the Premier’s watch, the CFMEU was given preferential treatment, and major project costs on taxpayer funded projects have blown out by over $40 billion.
The Labor Government has wasted billions of taxpayers’ dollars, and every Victorian is paying the price through higher taxes and fees, and massive budget cuts in other vital areas like hospitals and roads.
Since coming to office Labor has introduced more than 50 new or increased taxes, and Victorians now pay the highest taxes in Australia.
Under Labor, Victoria has the highest debt of any state in Australia, and we will soon be paying nearly $26 million every day in interest!
A Liberal Nationals Government will establish an independent watchdog, Construction Enforcement Victoria, to enforce a Code of Practice for the Building and Construction industry to raise standards and stamp out misconduct.
Jacinta Allan’s track record speaks for itself, as the Minister responsible for the costly Big Build projects, the cancelled Commonwealth Games, and the exorbitant Suburban Rail Loop.
Labor can’t manage money and can’t manage projects, and Victorians are paying the price.
