The new leader of The Victorian Nationals, Danny O’Brien, was in Bendigo today in his first regional visit as leader.
Mr O’Brien used the visit to launch a document focused on the fallout from 10 years of Labor government in the state, saying rural and regional Victorians had received a poor deal from Labor.
“We have now had 10 years of Labor Government and regional Victorians are paying the price through record debt, record taxes, falling standards of living and billions of dollars of cost blowouts in major projects,” Mr O’Brien said.
“For the entire term of the Labor Government, Jacinta Allan has either been Premier, Deputy Premier or a Cabinet minister.
“This is a terrible record.
“In regional Victoria, we’ve been starved of infrastructure, our health and ambulance services are in crisis, our roads are crumbling, and regional communities are less safe than they were 10 years ago.
“It’s bitterly ironic that regional Victorians are so neglected under the watch of a regional Victorian Premier.”
The Nationals’ Member for Northern Victoria Gaelle Broad said it was timely to have Mr O’Brien in Bendigo to launch the campaign.
“Regional Victorians are now worse off on many levels than they were when Labor came to power,” Ms Broad said.
