The long-awaited Albury Wodonga Hospital masterplan showed a disappointing lack of
detail, The Nationals Member for Northern Victoria Gaelle Broad said today.
“It’s been 12 months since the NSW and Victorian Government’s announced a major
redevelopment of the Albury Hospital on the existing site,” Ms Broad told Parliament.
The masterplan was released yesterday ahead of community meetings that start tomorrow.
“As the region is growing rapidly and existing services are under pressure, the local
community have been anxiously awaiting details of the masterplan,” Ms Broad said.
“But the masterplan does not include hospital bed numbers.
“Without such key details it will be difficult to provide feedback.”
Ms Broad asked the Minister to provide details about the number of hospital beds, and
ensure that this information is shared at the community information sessions this week.
Ms Broad said Better Border Health had criticised the Masterplan for the lack of detail.
In a statement they said –
“A handful of very basic schematic drawings, artist impressions that bear almost no
resemblance to the actual Albury site, and a summary that parrots previously released
project outlines does not constitute a masterplan”.
“It’s disappointing that the masterplan lacks key details,” Ms Broad said.
“In October 2022, the NSW and Victorian Governments announced a $558 million
redevelopment of the Albury Hospital on the existing site.
“It’s a rapidly growing region, and existing health services are under pressure.
“I encourage residents to attend an information session to learn more about the masterplan
and provide their feedback –sessions start tomorrow and continue through until next week,”
Ms Broad said.
