The Nationals’ Member for Northern Victoria Gaelle Broad has urged community members to seriously consider standing for local council elections.
“Candidate nominations are now open, and this is a chance for residents to have a say in how their local area is managed, and services are delivered,” Ms Broad said.
“I encourage community-minded people to consider standing for election. Elected councillors have an important role, identifying local priorities and helping shape the future of local communities.
Anyone who wishes to stand for election must have their registration, candidate statement and photo submitted the Victorian Electoral Commission by 12 noon on September 17.
Voting will be held via mail between October 7 and October 25.
Voters will choose council representatives who for coming years will be responsible for essential local services such as maintaining roads, managing public spaces, enforcing by-laws, handling planning issues, and managing waste collection.
