Entries for this year’s Parliament Prize are now open for Victorian students from Grade 5 to Year 12.
The Nationals’ Member for Northern Victoria Gaelle Broad said the prize was a great opportunity for young people to learn more about Parliament and have some fun along the way.
Cash prizes are also on offer.
The Parliament Prize asks students what they would say to Parliament if they were an MP, and invites them to submit their own 90-second video of a statement they would make.
“A Member’s Statement is an opportunity for MPs to make a brief statement of up to 90 seconds in state Parliament on matters of interest or concern to them and those living in their electorate,” Ms Broad said.
“I always enjoy visiting the schools in my electorate,” Ms Broad said.
“It’s always interesting to hear students’ thoughts and views on matters that are important to them.”
The competition has three categories – grades 5-6, years 7-9, and years 10-12.
Last year the Parliament Prize received 1463 entries from students from over 240 schools across Victoria. And, with more than 450 unique topics raised in these entries, Members of Parliament took a great interest in what students in their local areas had to say.
Topics covered included the cost of living, health and mental health, artificial intelligence and education.
Entries close on Friday June 12, 2026.
